Michael Newdow - Against the Pledge
Now - "In God We Trust"

I am from Elk Grove, CA. Home of Michael Newdow. Imagine how we feel about this issue. I was driving to work this morning and heard about Newdow's latest stunt and it occured to me that this guy will not stop until he is stumped! We need to find out if this guy, who claims to be an atheist, has ever given or has received a "Christmas" present. If he is a "non-believer" in God, why does he practice a Christian event? Just a thought. Chris "In my opinion" - Mr. Newdow hates himself and can't accept that there is a Loving God that cares for him. Newdow worships himself and will eventually be forgotten but GOD is forever.

Inside Bay Area - Alameda Times-Star - Op-Ed

Inside Bay Area - Alameda Times-Star - Op-Ed: "Top court should resolve pledge dispute DID you really think the Pledge of Allegiance issue had gone away? It may have faded from our memory, but Michael Newdow knew his crusade to delete 'under God' from the daily ritual for thousands of school children was far from over. We knew the issue would surface again. If you need a reason why, look no further than the Supreme Court and, ironically, this is where the issue should end up. Here's how it's playing out. Newdow, an atheist doctor and lawyer whose daughter attended school in Elk Grove, challenged the pledge's reference to God, saying that it unjustly forces religious beliefs into classrooms. In 2002, the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals agreed "... more>>>

Elk Grove School District - Newdow - Unconstitutional Pledge

Federal Judge Declares Pledge Of Allegiance Unconstitutional POSTED: 2:07 pm EDT September 14, 2005 UPDATED: 3:49 pm EDT September 14, 2005 SAN FRANCISCO -- A federal judge in San Francisco ruled Wednesday it is unconstitutional for public school children to recite the Pledge of Allegiance. U.S. District Judge Lawrence Karlton ruled that the pledge's reference to one nation "under God" violates school children's right to be "free from a coercive requirement to affirm God." Karlton said he's bound by precedent set by the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, which ruled in 2002 that it was unconstitutional for the Pledge to be recited in public schools. The Supreme Court threw out that case, ruling that Sacramento atheist Michael Newdow had no standing to bring the legal action. Newdow objected to the words "under God" in the pledge. Newdow brought the second case to the federal court -- this time, representing unidentified parents and their children. Wednesday's decision sets up another constitutional showdown over the pledge. The Becket Fund, a religious rights group that is a party to the case, said it would immediately appeal the case to the San Francisco-based 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. If the court does not change its precedent, the group would go to the Supreme Court.

Elk Grove Historic District To Get Boost From $4.3 Million Project

Elk Grove Historic District To Get Boost From $4.3 Million Project POSTED: 11:42 am PDT April 25, 2005 UPDATED: 1:00 pm PDT April 25, 2005 ELK GROVE, Calif. -- Elk Grove is one of the fastest growing cities in California. And as new homes continue to sprout up, the city is focusing on preserving its past. The Elk Grove officials are starting a project to make its historic area more welcoming to visitors. See video here Ginger and David Simpson say they have lived in Elk Grove for more than 30 years and seen a lot of changes. "When we moved to town they had 3,000 people. Now, it's up to 110,000 people, and they seem to all want to take Elk Grove Boulevard," David Simpson said. The city has started a $4.3 million revitalization project that will answer some of the residents' and businesses' biggest concerns. "There's a lot of traffic here, and people don't want to come to this area because of safety. They don't feel safe about crossing the street. That's hurting us," said Elk Grove cafe owner Braulio Torres. The new plans include a center turn lane, traffic calming devices and more trees. "We'll be doing streetscape lighting, utilities, sidewalks, streets, brick-pavers landscaping," said city of Elk Grove spokesman Reid Montgomery. "I'm hoping it's going to look as good as they say it's going to look, and I hope it slows down the traffic," said Elk Grove resident Ginger Simpson.
