Elk Grove Neighborhood Targeted with Racist Graffiti

Elk Grove Neighborhood Targeted with Racist Graffiti: "Elk Grove Neighborhood Targeted with Racist Graffiti Neighbors in an east Elk Grove neighborhood awoke Monday to find someone had spray painted racist words and symbols on fences and a garage door overnight. The home with the defamatory words on its garage door was the only one targeted on Chicory Field Way. The family living there hasn't experienced anything like it in the three years since they moved from the Bay Area. 'First thing I thought, 'not again, I thought those days were over with,'' said Dallas Tillman. In the same neighborhood, homes on Arbon Court, Grameer Way and Conda Way had swastikas and racist terms scrawled on their fences. Tillman and his family, like those with the marked fences, worked quickly to erase the slogans and symbols. Cheryl DeBose had a message, too, for the vandals. 'We're not going anywhere,' she said. '[We're] not scared, not intimidated, not going anywhere.' Both DeBose and Tillman hope the graffiti was a case of someone with too much time on their hands, rather than a personal message of hate. The Elk Grove Police Department is investigating the graffiti. Anyone with information about the perpetrators is encouraged to call police at (916) 714-5115 or Crime Alert at (916) 443-HELP. Caller can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a $1,000 reward. "
